You are on the final boss in Super Mario Brothers Wii U and he’s down to the last couple of hits and suddenly it all goes dark on your GamePad…nothing!! Battery Zero!!! Seriously this can’t happen on your shiny new Wii U GamePad? Yes I’m afraid it can. For all it’s amazingness, it does has one flaw, battery life…
It turns out that the Wii U Gamepad only has a 1500mAh lithium battery. We have heard from our friend across the pond that it only lasts 3-4 hours between charges — okay for casual players, but that’s going to limit anyone looking to get in an all nighter of a gaming session. The good news is that the battery is replaceable, and we already have our first 3rd party Battery Booster to help us all out.
Nyko, 3rd party manufacturer of innovative accessories for Wii, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and 3DS have come up with the answer to at least some of our prayers with the U Boost for the Wii U GamePad that is a lithium battery pack that enables you to double your playing time on the GamePad. We have yet to see one let alone try one, but we are now getting in contact with Nyko as we speak to see if we can get one across to test ourselves and we’ll put together a video overview and review for you as soon as we have one. Watch this space!!
You can order one in the UK from Amazon.co.uk here and in the US from Amazon.com here, it’s not yet available to pre-order in the US but if you sign up for notification you’ll be the first to know when it is available and of course we’ll be here with any more new we get on this.
